This is the first time I've tried to do an high bun. Thanks to my model Eva for the time she spent. I hope you like the video and I am glad if it helps you. Please share, like or comment :)
In order to create the perfect hairstyle, you should have some basic equipment at your disposal. You don't actually need so much - this is my shopping list:
Dancesport makes you go places you would probably never even think of visiting otherwise. Kiev - where we spent one of the last weekends - was one of such places for us. We spent one whole day there before the comp in order to enjoy some of its unique atmosphere and culture.
The Kiev Open Championship takes place in the middle of a park, in the "AKKO International Exhibition Centre". Here are some impressions from our first competition in the Ukraine.
This is the first on-demand article. What are the set backs of travelling to a competition? What should you take into account? Where to begin? In the following paragraphs you will find a few helpful tipps.
Here is my newest video. Individual competition hairstyle with middle parting. My national championship hairstlye - try it yourself.
In Bucharest, the reality slaps you in the face pretty hard. The majority of the buildings is damaged and cries for reconstruction. The image above does not show the entrance to our accommodation but it is pretty close. We were not staying in a particularly rich part of the town but if you go to the centre, the impression will not be much different. On the other hand, everything costs peanuts here - the cheapest taxi ride will cost you 25 Euro Cents per kilometer.
If you want to dance an international competition and you don't want to spend a fortune, Romania is the right place for you. We drove 800 to Sibiu (and back). Is it worth it?
Push-ups are normally seen as THE exercise for men. Women are often afraid of including it into their fitness routine because you never know, what if you woke up the next morning with a body builder's arms? Well, of course, that's a nonsense. Ladies, it's about time to declare war on the pudding in your arms!
The sun is shining, the beach and the refreshing see is highly seducing, the holiday feeling could not be more perfect. It's 35°C out there. Still, a few insane beings put on their tail suits, long dresses and get ready to sweat on the floor. Welcome to Kavala!
I'm back from my summer break and I still owe you my impressions from Kavala. Apart from that I will also upload a few pictures from that beautiful place. We are also organizing a little fitness workshop here in Vienna, so I will share a few excercises with you which you can simply do after you practice. We are currently preparing for the Styrian Open, the comp review will follow as well.
A hot pre-summer weekend in Szeged. If you still feel up to it at this point, Szeged is the right place to pimp up your bikini body before the holidays.
Vasek and I are travelling a lot and we want to share our experience with you ;-) Follow us on instagram! #katyscornercom
Olomouc - a Czech town only two hours' drive from Vienna. A beautiful place with a very nice competition.
Simply put: dancing is a sport and as such it can get pretty sweaty. Therefore, you should use beauty products that do not dissolve and trickle down your outfit with the first drop of sweat. In this article I will introduce some of my favourite beauty must-haves. Who knows, you might find something that can be of use for you, too.
Done! My newest video is finished. A simple but very elegant hair bun for those with long hair with similarly easy but handsome rhinestone decoration! Have fun and don't forget to share :-)
You simply do not want to miss the probably most amusing masters of ceremonies in the history of dancing competitions. A very nice and well organized competition.
Another comp in Romania. The waiting times aspire to a Guinness record. We really had the time of our lives (ba dum tss).
Finally done! First video for simple ballroom makeup :-) :-) :-) Enjoy it and feel free to comment and share.
After a lot of rounds and a very short night in Bucharest, the next stop for Vasek and me was Ljubljana. In order to arrive in time, we flew back to Vienna where we took this cute little plane to Ljubljana. We then used our personal shuttle (sometimes called "mum") which brought us from the airport to the hall. Sometimes you just feel like doing crazy stuff, right?
You could argue about whether Bucharest is a city worth visiting. Well, from the financial poit of view it certainly is. And if you are one of those adrenaline freaks, just hop in a romanian taxi...
This year we spent Easter in Berlin once again where (in spite of the dance ban on Good Friday in Germany) the traditional competition "Blaues Band der Spree" took place.
Hearing all the makeup and styling terms, one can easily get lost: tinted day cream, BB cream, foundation, makeup base, concealer, powder etc. Plus, of course, the question comes to mind how to use all of them correctly. After years of experience I have found my way through the makeup jungle and found my own order.
Last weekend, the beautiful city hall of Vienna hosted the yearly Vienna Dance Concourse, this time including the Viennese regional championship. Since Vienna is my hometown, I am afraid I can't promise you a perfectly impartial report.
Finally! My first video is ready. All too often can you see ladies with simple hair pins at a competition, or even worse with loose, flying hair. Hairspray still belongs to the world of myths and fairy tales for some. You are not just about to have a shower. You are going to a dancing floor, taking part in an artistic sport. That's why you should be styled accordingly. Never forget - a good impression is a part of the success! Judging criteria or not, you will always get a few beauty points. Have a look at how to make a competition hairstyle for women with shoulder-length hair. It looks complicated but it's really quite simply done.
In the past, I often struggled with the problem of dark eye shadow falling on my cheeks. When I tried to wipe it away, it left dark stains under my eyes which made me look like a panda bear. It is really tedious to get rid of these stains and replace them with more make-up afterwards. I even tried to incline my head facing the floor in order to avoid the eye shadow falling on my cheeks but it is very difficult to make yourself up in this way. There is, however, a very easy solution.
If you want to make your practice as effective and as challenging as possible, you might want to give workout with gym balls a try. It is particularly useful for us dancers since it’s quite an easy way to improve the coordination between your muscles without causing them to sore on the day after which would have a negative effect on your coordination. Here are a few of my favorite exercises. But beware, you will need balls to do these!
Last week we paid a little visit to Bassano del Grappa. A rather not-so-short journey of 7 hours to the beauties of Italy…
Have you ever asked yourselves where to begin when creating your competition styling? By doing your hairstyle before applying makeup you risk having a sharp line between your hair and forehead. The other way round you might cover your forehead by a layer of hairspray which can either lead to a not very pretty mask effect or even cause makeup to peel off your forehead.
If you are into language puzzles and searching for entertainment, you don’t want to miss the Hungarian open in Budapest!
Plank is an exercise that can be done by almost everyone and it strengthens your abdominal muscles, your arms, legs, chest and shoulders. It is the perfect exercise for us dancers to improve the core stability. So here we go!
The college holidays were really tough for us. After four days in the Bundessportzentrum Schielleiten (Styria, Austria) we went to Munich (Germany), where the top couples from all over the world participated in the Artistic Camp.
What you absolutely need for a dancesport camp...
In the last years girls have been asking me questions about the competition styling over and over again. Therefore I decided to share my experience with you :-)
Here is my first suggestion...
Here are some selfies and snapshots with our friends and coaches from the last year. This year we'll be on the road again and I'll tell you about our experience here. I'm looking forward to it!
